Our massage table selection is great for professionals and students.

Selecting your Professional Massage Table and Equipment. Step 4. Other Massage Equipment.

If your massage practice is going to be in-office only, then you don't have much else to work with besides massage linens and, perhaps, a massage chair. You must have enough linens to get you through your workday. If you are going to perform 5 massage treatments per day and work 5 days out of the week, you may want to go ahead an purchase at least 25 sets of sheets. Don't forget cresent covers for your headrest, one for each sheet. If you are confident that you will be washing sheets everyday, you can get by with 2 days worth (in this case, 10 sets of sheets). Fact is, you must wash your linens as soon as possible when you use them so that the oils don't absorb too far into the material, making for a more difficult cleaning process. If you forget even one day, you'll be behind quickly. We suggest having a washer and dryer onsite. Our clinic has a high capacity high efficiency washer and dryer set. Every 4th set we dirty gives us a load to wash, so our sheets look great. By the way, we perform about 45 treatments per week in our clinic and have 40 sets of sheets, in case something happens to our washing equipment and we need the quantity. If purchasing equipment is not for you, try a service that picks up and drops off your linens at the office for you. They charge per pound, but they only charge you for the linens they clean, so it can be a marginal expense for you.

Massage Chairs are also a great additive for a practice. If you plan on doing events, you may want a chair to allow people to "try out" your hands before they have to get undressed to do so. We use the Earthlite Avila II to do our outcalls and events. We love it!

Fountains are great for the decor and sound spa for the treatment areas. A 5 disc CD changer is a great idea as well. We pipe music into each treatment room and the waiting area. By using 5 discs, we don't have to go change the CD every time we are tired of the music during some of our 9 hour shifts.

Spa wraps are another addition that is good if you use other treatment areas where people will be transferring to different rooms. Wrapping their body in a wrap or robe is good for privacy from a sauna or steam room to the massage treatment area. A cheap alternative that works great is to give your patient their "top sheet" to take with them. The sheet is large enough that they have privacy, and you are going to need it to drape them with anyhow.
